Earth has been destroyed and what remains of humanity must find a new place to live. They thought they had found a place to start over on Choom, but when the beleaguered human refugees arrive, the mosquito-looking Zhuri refuse to let them on the planet. The Zhuri do not like the humans’ emotions and their history of wars. Lan Mifune and his family are given one chance to change the Zhuri’s mind by trying to live, work, and go to school on Choom. It is not going well. Can Lan figure out a way to make the Zhuri welcome humanity to their planet in this humorous story about outsiders, prejudices, and slapstick comedy?
